Orizzonte Sistemi Navali, the Fincantieri-Leonardo joint venture, has signed a contract worth approximately €3.7 billion, including options, for the development, construction and initial support of two DDX destroyers for the Italian Navy.

The programme is intended to provide a major increase in fleet-level air and missile defence capability and represents one of the most significant European naval combatant programmes currently under development.
