Bulgaria’s defence minister reported that three naval drones struck a Greek-managed container ship sailing under the Liberian flag in Bulgaria’s exclusive economic zone. A maritime security source reported evacuation of the crew. Responsibility had not been established in the reporting reviewed. Turkey separately urged Russia and Ukraine to halt attacks on commercial vessels and raised the protection of subsea infrastructure with Bulgaria and Romania.
Assessment: A further attack near a NATO member’s coast increases demands on maritime surveillance, incident investigation and shipping protection. The location and commercial voyage do not by themselves identify the attacker or establish a military role for the vessel. Confidence: moderate on the reported incident; low on attribution.
