Romania’s Defence Ministry disclosed on 27 October that a French Atlantique 2 maritime patrol aircraft was operating from Mihail Kogălniceanu under a deployment scheduled for 18 October–6 November. Its missions cover navigation hazards and surveillance supporting critical-infrastructure protection in the western Black Sea.
Assessment: The deployment adds an airborne surveillance contribution. Its operational effect depends on sortie availability, sensor coverage and information exchange; it does not by itself establish persistent coverage or safe passage for all shipping.
