Iraq’s Security Media Cell reported a drone interception near Baghdad’s Green Zone on 27 October. Two security sources separately described two drones intercepted by US embassy defences. Investigators were examining recovered debris and the aircraft’s origin and intended destination.
Assessment: The accounts differ on the number of drones. An interception near a diplomatic district does not establish the intended target, launching organisation or sponsorship without additional evidence.
