The Su-30SM2 is the latest modernised addition to Russia’s Naval Aviation fighter fleet and a further development of the Su-30SM already in service. It retains the Su-30’s two-seat multirole concept while adding updated onboard avionics and electronic-warfare systems, together with an expanded weapons capability. Russian manufacturer releases also report increased radar detection range and the ability to engage air, land and maritime targets. The SM2 is an evolutionary upgrade of an established aircraft design; public details on the configuration of individual aircraft remain limited.
