The US State Department approved a possible Foreign Military Sale to Ukraine covering 500 PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement interceptors and associated support, valued at an estimated $2.1 billion. Reporting describes financing from Canada, Germany and Norway through JUMPSTART, alongside Ukrainian funds supported by the EU Ukraine Support Loan. The notification does not establish a completed contract or an agreed delivery schedule.

Assessment: The approval provides a route towards sustaining Ukraine’s ballistic-missile defence, but has no immediate effect on available interceptor stocks. Contract execution, manufacturing slots and any separately agreed interim transfers will determine when the package becomes usable. Existing deliveries under other programmes should be distinguished from this proposed purchase. Confidence: high on the announced approval; low on delivery timing.
