UPDATED: 27 October 2026
EVENT: 27 October 2026
Russia and Ukraine said on 27 October that a local ceasefire had begun around Russian-occupied Oleshky to enable humanitarian aid and civilian evacuation. The pause follows the previously announced arrangement. Strikes continued elsewhere in Ukraine.
Assessment: The start of a local pause is distinct from completed aid delivery or evacuation. Compliance, safe access and the number of civilians reached remain the measures of practical effect; this is not a general ceasefire.
