Ukraine’s Emerging Counter-Shahed Air Defence Layer
Ukraine is expanding a layered counter-UAS architecture to address the growing scale and technical evolution of Russian Shahed/Geran one-way attack drones. Low-cost interceptor UAVs are increasingly integrated with radar, electro-optical, acoustic and passive-RF sensors to shorten the detection-to-engagement cycle.
The infographic examines the emerging drone-versus-drone kill chain, from detection and track assignment to terminal interception, and highlights the operational challenge posed by faster jet-powered variants. It also illustrates the changing cost-exchange logic of air defence and the continuing adaptation between offensive UAV employment and counter-UAS systems.
